More Time, More Memories
Video Transcribed: What is the Policy for Equal Access to Minor Children? Hi. I’m Brian Glass, a lawyer in Oklahoma.
I often get asked, how can I get more time with my kids? Well, the State of Oklahoma has adopted the Policy for Equal Access to Minor Children by Parents. This policy states that upon proper application to the court, the court will grant equal access or significantly more access than has previously been granted to the parent petitioning the court for more time with the kid.
And the basis for this is that the State of Oklahoma wants to ensure that the minor children have frequent and continuing contact with parents who have shown the ability to act in the best interest of the child. The best interest has many factors including the safety of the child, how you provide for the child, where the child will sleep, where they will hang out with that other parent, and a long list of things that basically come down to who can give the child the necessities that they need to ensure that the child is happy and healthy.
